Association for Financial Technology
AFT is a volunteer association of industry visionaries, thought leaders, strategic senior managers and delivery professionals from companies that serve the financial services vertical market. Since the 1960’s AFT has been at the forefront of our evolving industry and represents the best interests of thousands of financial services technology and service professionals everyday. From its humble beginnings in the mid-west as a regional group of core data processing vendors to today’s vibrant international representation, AFT remains the collective voice of an industry. As you become more familiar with AFT and its charter you will find that many of your peers, partners and competitors are members of this proud association.
Information/Education
The AFT members stay informed on the very latest trends in financial technology through attendance at semiannual meetings held at various locations throughout North America. AFT conferences feature leading experts addressing topics of vital, current interest. Provocative interactive sessions also generate invaluable information and idea sharing through AFT’s unique spirit of “coop-etition”.
Partnership The financial services marketplace is a very dynamic and complex web of regulations, people, ideas and technology. Standing alone while facing unique industry challenges is a daunting and dangerous way to conduct business. The wisdom of large groups has time and again proven more effective and accurate than individual efforts. The partnership which is born of AFT is the result of collective effort and common desire between financial services firms, regulatory bodies and technology and service firms that provide the valuable links for commerce. This on-going and unwritten rule of partnership is what drives our industry.
Regulatory and Government Affairs
The Association for Financial Technology (AFT) is actively engaged in regular dialog with our governing organizations and those that govern financial institutions. Each year new legislation alters the course of our collective development efforts while recent events such as the passing of Check Clearing for the 21st Century (Check 21), Sarbanes Oxley (SOX), Graham Leach Bliley (GLB) and the United States Patriot Act (Patriot ACT) have consumed thousands of hours of work and million of lines of code. In order to keep abreast of the changes, AFT presents regular programs with the following organizations: The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), The Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS), and The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).
We conduct workshops to address these issues as they arise.
